Friday Flowers Club #28~In Bloom

Hello Friends.

We talk often on here about the Wheel of the Year. Last week I celebrated another full turn of my own personal wheel, in fact, my fiftieth time around the sun. 

I recently read about ‘Oubaitori’, a Japanese concept proposing that people, like flowers, bloom in their own time. It is a soft acceptance of honouring the rhythm that is yours and yours alone and removing the need for comparison to others. 

Since starting ‘Nicola Green Botanica’ just over a year ago I have met the most amazing people and built lifelong connections through my flowers. I finally feel, fifty years into this adventure, that I have found my rhythm.

The belief offered to me by others, the gestures and messages for my birthday, the gathering of friends and family in a field in Edale at the weekend for my own surprise “Fiftyfest”. These things have brought something very special to me for the first time in my 50 years; an acceptance for who I am. And a belief that this flower is starting to bloom.

This week I am pulling rank, and in recognition of hitting the half century mark putting together a collection of ‘Florist’s Choice’ arrangements, with some bright, happy, summer florals.
